About the Author
Jeffrey F. Beatty, J.D., was an exceptional teacher, having won both the Metcalfe Prize and Cup, Boston University's highest teaching award as well as the Charles Hewitt Award, which is given each year by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB) for excellence in teaching. The highest honor for teaching conferred by the ALSB, this award is dedicated to the communication and recognition of creative teaching practices of business law. Prior to his joining the faculty at Boston University, Professor Beatty worked for several years as a legal aid lawyer, concentrating on general civil litigation. He also practiced in a private firm, where he concentrated on general civil litigation, including trials and appeals of tort, contract, employment, and property cases. Professor Beatty wrote television scripts and plays that were performed in Boston, London, and Amsterdam.
Susan S. Samuelson, J.D., is a tenured full professor in the School of Management at Boston University, where she has been awarded the Broderick Prize in recognition of outstanding teaching accomplishments. She teaches both law and ethics to undergraduates, graduate students, and executives. Professor Samuelson's research has focused on securities law and the management of lawyers (in both law firms and corporations). Her articles have appeared in the Boston University Law Review, Ohio State Law Journal, the Harvard Journal on Legislation and the Sloan Management Review, among others. She practiced law in the corporate department of the law firm Choate, Hall, and Stewart. She earned both an AB and JD at Harvard University.

I loved using this textbook for my business law class and will use this book for years!

If you are have this textbook for your business law class, then you are in luck! This is one of the best and most helpful textbooks that I have ever had the pleasure of using. (I mostly just use my textbooks as a pillow). I actually did enjoy reading this and learning the material. The author breaks down the concepts so they are easy to understand. Even if you hate law, if you put forth the effort to learn this, you should have no trouble at all learning and understanding the concepts. Whether or not the class will be easy is another thing.
I enjoyed this book so much that I will not be selling it back to the bookstore (or anyone) because I know that I will use the book for years.

As Law books go...

I had to buy this book for a class... I am not in the market to buy law books and read through them for fun. It was very expensive but it was required for the class. As law books go this one isn't bad. The authors actually try to put it in a language that students can understand and they even add in a little quip every once in a while. I am accounting major and this is the only law book I have had to buy but I imagine not very many of them are as easy to understand as this one. (I know none of my accounting books were) I don't know how many people will actually be looking to buy this for recreational reading but if you do I think it will probably be entertaining for you. If you are required to buy it like I was then don't be TO disappointed. I suppose it could be worse...

very applicable

I really enjoyed studying this topic. I think anyone going into business or sales should read this book. Contract law and liability are two topics that I think everyone should know. I will be keeping this one as a reference.
